After years of working with Non-Profit organizations in Mexico, Kerny and Pat Korchinski decided to initiate a new foundation utilizing the knowledge their experiences brought them.  The philosophy and foundation of FEP was built on the belief to provide a hand up and not a hand out.  FEP took the approach of understanding individuals needs in order to facilitate a path for people to take command of their lives.  In taking command of their lives, they possess the ability to create positive, sustainable change for themselves and their families  A board was established November 2013,  and staff was hired to begin the journey of Fundacion Para El Empoderamiento Personal.

After doing a profile on several different communities in and around the Puerto Vallarta area, in January 2014 the community of las Cañadas was selected.  We chose las Cañadas because the people in the community showed great receptiveness to invest in their personal growth.  We began to meet with community members in individual interviews to gain a deeper understanding of their needs.  With this information we were able to develop programming aiming to provide awareness in order for individuals to search for solutions to their needs, not answers to relieve  their symptoms. For those open to committing to the process, these programs provide opportunities for a fundamental, sustainable improvement in the quality of life for the individual and their family.

In February 2014, FEP began renting a home in las Cañadas  to use as our Community Center.  Through the years we expanded in both members and programs in this small and engaging facility.  This place provided us the chance to learn from the members in the community, help provide members opportunities to create improvement in their lives, and build a connection between the community of las Cañadas and Fundacion Para El Empoderamiento Personal.​​

In May 2017 FEP took the next step in our relationship with las Cañadas.   A new facility specifically designed for our organization and programs was completed.  This will allow us to incorporate additional members, supplementary programs, and serve all of our members at a higher level.
